Long hair can be beautiful and sensual when styled correctly but the problem is long hair can also look dated, heavy and utterly appealing if not styled right. Here are some tips to have your hair styled right and looking gorgeous if you have long locks.

Never underestimate the power of a hair trim. If you want your hair to look smart but are reluctant to get a short hair cut, just getting your ends trimmed regularly is often sufficient to stop them from looking ragged.  When you are deciding what kind of cut will suit you best there are several things you need to consider.

Take your Hair Type into Consideration

If your hair is naturally bone straight, you will probably want a cut that works with that.  A blunt cut bottom with no layers is timeless and beautiful.  If you have long, straight hair, enjoy it�many women are sure to be secretly envying you.

If you have naturally curly hair, you will almost definitely want long layers cut.  Curly hair moves and styles much better when layers are cut into it.

If your hair is more of a combination of wavy and straight, you should decide which way you want to go with your cut.  If you have thinner hair, you will probably want to go with all one length and use proper product and a straightening iron.  If you hair is very thick and coarse, you will want to have some layers cut into your hair to lighten it and give it movement.

If your hair holds curl well, you can put it on rollers or curl it with a curling iron.  If you want that look but your hair doesn�t hold the curl, consider getting a permanent or body wave.  You can always use a straightening iron for days you don�t want the curl.

Take your Face Shape into Consideration

All long hairstyles do not suit all face shapes. Different types of bangs or the lack thereof frame a face differently.  If you have a more round face, you�d be best off having the hair around your face cut in angles.  If your face is long, consider having heavy bangs cut all across your forehead to draw attention upward to your eyes.
